Off the Hook - Elephant Lovey

In my quest to help Eben soothe himself to sleep, I decided to get him a lovey.  But not just any lovey would do, of course!  I wanted it to be an elephant to match his nursery theme.  After some online shopping didn't turn up anything I liked, I made him one myself.  I found the pattern here, and got some lovely cotton yarn here.  And this is the result of several hours with my hook:

I actually finished it several weeks ago.  Despite all the cuteness, Eben really wasn't all that interested in it until I made one very important modification:

I sewed a pacifier to the trunk of the elephant, and now it is now the recipient of much affection.  Don't really know how much it has helped with the sleep situation, though!  I have enough extra yarn to make another one, if necessary.
